Establishing an WinSCP connection

If you want to connect to your HSMW home drive I: or Laufwerk R: (Lehre), we recommend using External_Access_to_directories.


Establishing a connection to the UNIX home directory

Login window

SFTP version

After starting WinSCP a login window will be visible. At Field(1), enter the desired server adress. The FTP servers are:

ftp-home.hs-mittweida.de - Access to the UNIX home directory ftp-www.hs-mittweida.de - Access to the web space


Enter at the input field(2) your HSMW login and at field(3) your password. Make sure that the selected protocol(4) is "SFTP".

After that, check the box "Expert Mode", choose "SFTP" on the left side and set the SFTP-Version to "4". Save your settings with "Save"(5).


Save session


Optional: You can enter any name in the text box.
Optional: You can check the box to save your password. Important: It is always a security risk to save passwords!
Confirm everything with OK.

Login

Choose the desired connection from the List(6) and confirm the selection with "Login"(7).

There is a possibility that the following alert window will pop-up.

Close the Window with "Yes". If the password wasn't saved as recommended, the following window should pop up:

Enter password

Enter your password(8) and confirm with "OK"(9). The connection should be succesful.

Connect with your drive I:

The access with FTP is no longer available. Please read the article External_Access_to_directories .
